Job summary

PTC Tubular Products LLC seeks a plant shift supervisor to oversee safety, quality, and production on the assigned shift. You will supervise 25–60 direct reports, enforce EEOC/OSHA standards, and ensure efficient plant operation with a focus on continuous improvement.

The role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities, with experience in manufacturing environments and the use of ERP systems. Evening shift may be involved.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience.

  • Experience leading a manufacturing shift and implementing safety, quality, and production standards.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and enforce general safety rules, plant rules, EEOC and OSHA standards.
  • Report safety hazards to EHS coordinator, Operations manager and Plant manager.
  • Investigate and fill out accident reports and notify appropriate people of all accidents occurring during the shift.
  • Has primary responsibility for quality assurance and production levels.
  • Supervise assigned work shift.
  • Responsible for the efficient operation of the plant.
  • Discipline, training, safety and welfare of employees on assigned shift.
  • Assign employees to jobs and train in efficient procedures.
  • Monitor manpower and strive for optimal pounds per labor hour.
  • Work on the floor to instruct and monitor production and SPC charts.
  • Ensure proper material, tooling, and gauges are available and used.
  • Maintain proper material flow and minimize lost machine time.
  • Inform Operations Manager of inventory shortages or tooling needs.
  • Report machinery and equipment needing repair via work order system.
  • Review overtime and ensure fair distribution.
  • Monitor attendance, performance, punctuality and breaks.
  • Handle suspensions when necessary.
  • Review labor edits for accurate pay.
  • Review production reports at shift end.
  • Suggest improvements in production, safety, and working conditions.
  • Communicate with next shift about status and special instructions.
  • Keep wastage to the lowest possible rate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Job Summary

Oversee the plant on the given shift and employees of that shift in all aspects regarding safety, quality, and production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Instruct and enforce general safety rules, plant rules, EEOC and OSHA standards.
  • Report safety hazards to EHS coordinator, Operations manager and Plant manager.
  • Investigate and fill out accident reports and notify appropriate people of all accidents occurring during the shift.
  • Has primary responsibility for quality assurance and production levels.
  • Supervise assigned work shift.
  • Responsible for the efficient operation of the plant.
  • Responsible for the discipline, training, safety and welfare of the employees on assigned shift.
  • Assign employees to jobs. Train and instruct employees in the most efficient method possible in their job procedures.
  • Utilize manpower to obtain the most efficient production possible by monitoring pounds per labor hour.
  • Work directly on the floor always to instruct and monitor production and SPC charts.
  • Ensure that proper material, tooling, and gauges are available and on the machine before the present job is completed.
  • Ensure that material flows in proper order so there is no lost machine time.
  • Inform Operations Manager of any inventory shortage or tooling needs.
  • Report on machinery and equipment needing repair via work order system.
  • Review overtime hours for employees, making sure it is distributed fairly.
  • Monitor employee attendance, performance, punctuality and returns from breaks and discipline according to company policies.
  • Responsible for suspensions when necessary.
  • Review labor edits and edit as necessary to insure employees are paid correctly.
  • Review production reports at the end of the shift.
  • Suggest ways to improve production, safety and working conditions.
  • Communicate with incoming Supervisor regarding job status, any problems that occurred on the shift or special instructions that would be beneficial to the next shift.
  • Continually work toward keeping wasted material to the lowest possible rate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
  • The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers. Duties and responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.
