Job summary

PTC Tubular Products LLC in Illinois seeks a Mill Cutoff Operator Group 2 to support mill changeovers, monitor tube quality, and perform equipment adjustments for consistent product quality. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and adherence to the Quality Management System.

The incumbent will assist with tooling changes, lubrication, and calibration tasks while helping train new staff and maintaining clean work areas in a manufacturing environment. Physical stamina is required.

Qualifications

• Must have basic math skills and ability to apply measurements.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and quality protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assist mill operator in mill changeovers and align equipment.
• Constantly monitor tube quality; measure ID/OD, gauge, length, and end condition.
• Make adjustments to or replace cutoff tooling as needed.
• Lubricate cutoff, grease bearings, and oil gear boxes as time permits.
• Assist in eddy current setup and support painting unit.
• Help mill loader when possible.
• Document weld mill final inspection sheet as needed.
• Aid in training of new employees and maintain housekeeping.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed.

This role requires adherence to safety and quality systems while performing physically demanding tasks in a manufacturing environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Assist mill operator in changeover of mill.Constantly monitors quality of tube for surface condition, measures for I.D. flash, O.D. size, gauge, length, end condition and checks for tube straightnessMakes adjustments to or replaces cutoff tooling as neededLubricates cutoff, greases bearings, oils gear boxes as time permitsAssist in eddy current setup and maintains painting unitHelps mill loader when possibleKeeps heat numbers separateDocuments weld mill final inspection sheet as neededAids in training of new employeesCleans all areas of the plant when not directed to do anything elsePerforms miscellaneous duties as directed.The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers.
