Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to coordinate mill, heap leach, and pond operations in a safety-focused environment in Alaska. You will set maintenance priorities, supervise supervisors, and drive improvements in gold recovery and plant availability.

Responsibilities include evaluating staff, managing promotions, and collaborating with HR and safety teams. The role requires a HS diploma and preferably a BS in engineering, with willingness to work various shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; able to read, write, perform basic math and keep records.
• BS degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish maintenance priorities with Mill Operations to meet production needs.
• Supervise multi-craft supervisors; maintain equipment availability in a safe manner.
• Evaluate supervisors' performance on safety, production, training, and leadership.
• Review evaluations, recommend promotions, and coordinate disciplinary actions with HR as needed.
• Supervise process modifications to increase gold recovery and plant availability, reduce costs, and improve safety.
• Track monthly maintenance cost and keep records of safety meetings, attendance, scheduling, and incidents.
• Collaborate with safety/environmental staff to monitor work areas and improve mine health and safety.
• Know all phases of mill equipment, critical components and change-out hours.

Job description

Meet production goals by coordinating the activities of the mill, heap leach, and pond operations to maximize process efficiencies and gold recovery in a safety-oriented workplace.

Job Responsibilities

1. 1. Establish maintenance priorities, and work with the Mill Operations group to meet production needs.
2. 2. Supervise multi-craft supervisors and maintain acceptable equipment availabilities in a safe manner to meet the company's production goals.
3. 3. Manage and evaluate the job performance of the department’s supervisors concerning safety, production, mechanical / electrical training and development, and supervisory skills.
4. 4. Review performance evaluations, recommend promotions, and carry out disciplinary actions, in conjunction with Human Resources as needed.
5. 5. Supervise process modifications to increase gold recovery and plant availability, decrease costs, and improve safety and health aspects of the mill.
6. 6. Track monthly cost
7. 7. Keep records concerning all facets of mill maintenance including safety meetings, attendance, vacation, scheduling, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, and accidents.
8. 8. Work with safety and environmental personnel to monitor work areas and maintain and improve the health and safety of the mine work environment.
9. 9. Know all phases of mill equipment including critical components and change-out hours.
10. 10. Prepare monthly summaries of maintenance activities and individual reports as required.
11. 11. Participate in the design and construction of plant expansions or modifications.
12. 12. Consistent exercise of discretion and judgment in job performance.
13. 13. Review documentation of accidents, injuries, and equipment damage and recommend prevention strategies as necessary.
14. 14. Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
15. 15. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
16. 16. Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
17. 17. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
18. 18. Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct hazards.

Education and Experience

Education

1. 1. High school diploma or equivalent required. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.
2. 2. BS degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred.

Experience

1. 1.Previous experience in maintenance planning and frontline supervision required.

Skills

1. 1.Detailed knowledge of maintenance practices along with an understanding of the milling and gold recovery processes.
2. 2.Complete understanding of mill and maintenance operations.
3. 3.Good working knowledge and skill with a P.C. utilizing word processing and spreadsheet programs.
4. 4.Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
5. 5.Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently, with others in a team environment, and also as a member of the management team.
6. 6.May work holidays, shift work, and weekends as required
