The Operability Senior Engineer is responsible for developing and qualifying gas turbine engine systems, leading and influencing business goals and processes. Responsibilities include decision‑making within defined parameters, immediate issue resolution, short‑term planning, and supporting senior staff in long‑term planning and data analysis. The role involves engine operability analysis, presenting findings, contributing to business strategy, and balancing technical and business needs to deliver quality products that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Drive units and/or system‑level functional performance to deliver customer solutions. Define and conduct testing of equipment and entire systems, identifying optimal testing strategy and measurement system. Report performance against guaranteed values in accordance with industry codes and standards. Participate in research, design, development, and enhancement of technologies in performance, operability, and cost optimization, delivering solutions that balance cost and benefit (architecture, key design trade‑offs, flow‑down of requirements). Develop specialized knowledge in the discipline and serve as a best‑practice/quality resource. Maintain awareness of the latest technical developments in the area. Contribute to strategy and policy development, ensuring delivery within area of responsibility. Use judgment to solve moderately complex tasks in operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. Lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explain complex information, build consensus, and influence stakeholders. Develop and verify engine test plans to ensure safe operation limits. Monitor component and system‑level tests for safety. Analyze inlet distortion, develop hardware to simulate impacts on engine operation. Coordinate with cross‑functional teams (aero, performance, systems). Execute analysis and evaluation of assigned projects to meet business standards and program requirements. Document technical data consistently with engineering policies and procedures. Provide timely communication on significant issues or developments. Participate in organizational efforts and present or review in technical and program reviews.
