The State of Vermont Military Department is seeking a skilled Military Maintenance Specialist to join our team in South Burlington. This civilian military department position will have key responsibilities in these areas:
This position requires a background check for base and government computer access, the ability to obtain and maintain security clearances, and a valid driver’s license. As of July 14, 2025, the pay rate for pay grade 19 step 1 will be $22.07/hour.

Environmental Factors: Work is performed at military facilities in Vermont, often near hazardous materials, confined spaces, and heavy equipment. Work requires climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in all weather conditions. Some outside work and travel may be required. Security clearance and heavy equipment certification within six months are necessary.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of experience in building construction, maintenance, or related fields, or one year as a Military Maintenance Specialist I.
Preferred Qualifications: Over five years of experience in building construction or maintenance, vocational education, military experience, experience on military installations, and possession of a CDL license.
Special Requirements: May require a Department of Defense CAC card and a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
