Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) is offering a Test Engineer fellowship responsibility focusing on simulating, testing, certifying and improving advanced aerospace products across ISR, aviation and space domains. You will craft complex test plans and execute verification activities, enabling successful product validation during development and integration.

The program is designed for active-duty personnel transitioning to civilian work, with benefits and opportunities through SNC’s military

Qualifications

Job description

SNC’s Military Fellowship Program partners with programs such as SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes to provide fellowship opportunities to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These fellowships include up to six months of on-the-job industry training for eligible service members. During this time, participants gain valuable work experience in the civilian sector and build professional networks as they prepare for their transition to full-time civilian work.

NOTE: You must be currently serving on active duty to be eligible for this fellowship program. This program is not for veterans who have already separated from the military.

As a Test Engineer at SNC, you will be using your skills and expertise to simulate, test, certify and improve cutting edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You’ll develop complex test plans and procedures for a variety of systems to ensure the verification and validation of all product requirements. You will also be involved with the execution of the tests using top industry tools. As a cross functional engineer, you’ll test system and component level new products and develop new test processes throughout the product lifecycle.

The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Currently serving as active duty military and be eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program
  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering or other related discipline and typically10 or more years of experience
  • Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
  • Thorough understanding of engineering principles and practices
  • Experienceworking in multi-disciplinary designand development teams
  • Advanced Knowledge of requirements management, system design, and systemsintegration
  • Demonstrated experience planning, conducting and documenting Verification and Validation (V&V) activities
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience with various testing equipment, standards, and methodologies to include manual and automated testing
  • Ability to prepare complex and professional test plans, test procedures, and test reports in order to demonstrate compliance to system requirements
  • Familiarity with Product and Quality Assurance principles and experienced in generation and disposition of product non-conformances
  • Experience performing certification testing for various certification organizations (i.e. FAA, NASA, DoD)
  • Ability to read schematics, use service manuals, follow test procedures, and use logical trouble shooting techniques
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
