Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation’s Military Fellowship Program partners with SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes to provide up to six months of on‑the‑job industry training for service members transitioning to civilian careers. Fellows must be Active duty; not for separated veterans.

The ISR, Aviation, and Security business area leads in ISR and aviation, offering opportunities in testing, analysis, and protocol development within a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Currently serving in active duty DoD SkillBridge eligible.
  • Associate’s degree in a related field of study or equivalent experience (mandatory).
  • 1+ years of experience as a technician or related field; mandatory if degree absent, a minimum of 3 years of experience required.
  • Basic understanding of technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
  • Basic understanding of test concepts and techniques.
  • General experience with standard laboratory test, calibration, and measurement equipment.
  • Associate’s degree with a focus on Electronics (preferred).
  • Familiarity with MIL Standard 810 Test Standards (preferred).
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, DoD, or US Military (preferred).
  • Certification in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Execute complex testing scenarios.
  • Perform detailed analysis and reporting.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced issues.
  • Improve test procedures based on findings.
  • Mentor junior technicians.
  • Assist in the development of new testing protocols.
  • Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of testing equipment.
  • Document and report anomalies or deviations during testing.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings to discuss test outcomes.

Job description

SNC's Military Fellowship Program partners with programs such as SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes to provide fellowship opportunities to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These fellows receive up to six months of on‑the‑job industry training, gaining experience and building professional networks as they prepare for a full‑time civilian career. NOTE: Must be currently serving on active duty; not for veterans who have separated.

The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Associate’s degree in a related field of study or equivalent experience (mandatory).
  • 1+ years of experience as a technician or related field; mandatory if degree absent, a minimum of 3 years of experience required.
  • Basic understanding of technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
  • Basic understanding of test concepts and techniques.

Essential Functions
  • Perform testing processes on equipment, lifting up to 25 lbs regularly.
  • Conduct fault isolation and troubleshooting, requiring hand/finger dexterity.
  • Analyze and document test results, spending significant time on computers.
  • Work in potentially hazardous or loud environments, following safety protocols.
  • Possibly travel required.
  • For office roles, capability to work in an office or hybrid environment.

Security Clearance

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen to obtain an active mandatory clearance and must undergo the DoD CAF adjudication process.
