Job summary

Lakeside Behavioral Health System in Memphis seeks a Milieu Supervisor to oversee patient safety and care under the RN. You will supervise Mental Health Technicians or CNAs on assigned units, provide crisis intervention, and promote participation in individual and family education groups.

You will collaborate with nursing staff to ensure treatment plans are followed, anticipate crises, and coach the team to improve therapeutic skills, with opportunities for professional growth and development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Psychology, or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of hospital or healthcare experience required.
• Knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships, growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors, and CPR training.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure patient safety by staff on designated units.
• Provide crisis intervention and promote involvement in individual/family education groups.
• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of the registered nurse.
• Collaborate with Nursing staff to ensure Special Behavioral Treatment Plans are carried out.

Job Description

The Milieu Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and safety of patients by Mental Health Technicians or Certified Nursing Assistants on designated units. The Milieu Supervisor creates a safe environment for patients, provides crisis intervention, and promotes involvement in individual/family education groups. The Milieu Supervisor provides direct patient care under the supervision of the registered nurse. The Milieu Supervisor will work with all Nursing staff to ensure Special Behavioral Treatment Plans are carried out as written by the treatment team. Additionally, the Milieu Supervisor will take proactive steps to prevent crises on the units when warning signs become evident and provide a coach-to-team approach of problem-solving on the units. The Milieu Supervisor will be responsible for recognizing team members who need additional training with therapeutic techniques/skills and provide oversight to help improve such skills.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Psychology, or related field preferred.

Experience: Must have 3 – 5 years of experience in hospital or healthcare setting required.
