Lakeside Behavioral Health System in Memphis, Tennessee is seeking a dedicated Community Counselor/Mental Health Tech to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse in a large psychiatric hospital setting.

You will help create a safe, therapeutic milieu, participate in crisis intervention and offer individual/family education and daily living support to patients of all ages, from children to seniors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related field; high school diploma accepted.
• One year of direct patient care experience.
• Knowledge of direct patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN supervision.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu and assist with crisis intervention.
• Educate patients and families, monitor daily living activities and progress.

Job Description

The Community Counselor/Mental Health Tech provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, individual/family education and activities of daily living for mental health patients.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

Education:

Bachelors Degree in Psychology or related field highly preferred; or high school diploma required. One year work experience providing direct patient care with knowledge of direct patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors, and CPR training preferred.
