Job description

The Welder fabricates and assembles metal structures and produces metal products according to customer and employer specifications.This description represents the most significant job duties but does not exclude other work duties assigned or required but not mentioned.Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc or other welding equipmentLays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications or drawingsFollows weld and assembly requirements of drawings for assigned product by using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arcMaintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairsDocuments actions by completing production and quality logs.Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers, and fixtures and gauges to check work and perform detailed inspection of parts produced.ATTENDANCE: Good attendance includes reporting to work on time, sticking to work schedules, being prepared to start work on time, remaining on the job during the workday to complete assigned duties and limited use of unscheduled leave.QUALITY: Every employee has the responsibility “to do it right the first time” in order to provide the customer a product that meets their requirementsSAFETY: All employees will wear required safety equipment and comply with company safety rules, procedures and policies at all timesACCOUNTIBILITY: Every employee will accept responsibility for the quantity and quality of their work and strive towards excellence.This job description is subject to change with or without notice.Employees are required to follow procedures, work instructions and operational processes.
