Aerotek is seeking a Production MIG Welder for the 2nd shift (4-day work week) in Bettendorf, IA. The role focuses on MIG welding and fabrication, reading blueprints and weld symbols, and maintaining high-quality welds with precise measurements.
The position offers entry-level training opportunities, with a path from technical school or high school welding programs to independent work after training, working Monday–Thursday, 2:30 p.m.–1:00 a.m., onsite in Bettendorf.
This role focuses on MIG welding and fabrication in a busy weld shop, producing quality parts by following blueprints and weld symbols, using precision measuring tools, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. The position is on second shift and offers structured training, including opportunities for entry-level welders and recent technical school or high school welding program graduates.
The company offers a supportive, small-company culture where employees feel valued and understood. It provides rare opportunities for entry-level welders and recent graduates by offering hands-on training instead of requiring extensive prior experience. The team is known for being accommodating, giving employees second chances, and working with individual circumstances to retain good people. This environment allows you to build your skills, gain real-world welding experience, and grow in a stable, collaborative shop setting.
You will work in a dedicated weld shop that houses up to 20 welders, providing exposure to a variety of projects and techniques. Initial training typically lasts one to two weeks on first shift with a trainer, after which you transition to second shift and work more independently, with periodic check-ins from leadership. The standard schedule is second shift from 2:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday. The shop environment can be cool in the winter due to doors opening, so dressing warmly is important. The expected dress code includes jeans without holes, work boots, and a T-shirt, along with a personal weld helmet and appropriate safety gear. The atmosphere combines independent work with collaboration among welders and shop helpers in a production-focused, safety-conscious setting.
