Job summary

Basin Material Handling in Roanoke, IL seeks skilled MIG welders to join our award-winning team. We design and produce racks for customers nationwide, and our welders help ensure high-quality fusion and adherence to safety standards.

You will read blueprints, perform shop math, operate calipers and tape measures, and maintain 5S on the line. Experience, reliability, and the ability to work Monday–Friday with overtime when needed are valued.

Qualifications

• Welding experience of 2+ years required.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical drawings.
• Basic shop math and measurement conversions.
• Read calibrated tape measures and document results.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

• Manually weld using electrode or MIG gun to specified fusion depth.
• Ensure quality with 5S reporting and related metrics.
• May act as line leader, setting up lines and supervising weld quality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Welder’s essential duties and responsibilities:

• Manually guide electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld and size of molten puddle
• BPS reporting and metrics are required, including 5S
• May act as line leader, setting up lines, and checking weld quality of co-workers as required
• Other duties as assigned

Required experience and skills:

• 2+ years of welding experience
• Perform simple shop math and convert decimals to fractional equivalents
• Read a calibrated tape measure
• Read and interpret blueprints
• Ability to read and interpret documents finished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and quality and procedure manuals
• Forklift certificate/ability to receive forklift certificate

Schedule:

• Monday-Friday with Saturdays as needed
• 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
• Will be required to work overtime as needed
