Job summary

Basin Material Handling in Easley, SC is seeking a full-time MIG Welder to join our Weld team. You will report to the Weld Supervisor and contribute to maintaining high weld quality across departments.

The role begins at $19.50 per hour, with the potential to earn up to $22 per hour within 90 days based on performance evaluations at 30, 60, and 90 days. Progress and reliability determine adjustments and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Read a calibrated tape measure.
• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Perform simple shop math and convert decimals to fractions.
• Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and quality procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manually guide electrode or gun along weld line to form specified depth and bead.
• Maintain arc length and speed based on color of metal, sound of weld, and puddle size.
• Set up lines and check weld quality of co-workers as required.
• Assist other departments as required.

• 30‑Day Review – Potential increase of up to $.50/hour
• 60‑Day Review – Potential increase of up to $.50/hour
• 90‑Day Review – Potential increase of up to $1.50/hour

Primary Purpose

Can perform a variety of welding functions. The individual should be familiar with and capable of using various types of welding equipment. Responsible for maintaining quality. Responsible to the JobBoss process and reporting accurate quantities.

Essential Duties

Manually guide electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld and size of molten puddle.

Other Duties

Assist other departments as required/directed. May act as line leader, setting up lines, and checking weld quality of co‑workers as required. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

Ability to:

• Perform simple shop math and convert decimals to fractional equivalents.
• Read a calibrated tape measure.
• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Read and interpret documents finished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and quality and procedure manuals.

Experience

6 months required in welding. 3 years preferred in welding, reading blueprints, and checking weld quality.
