Position Summary
The MIG Welder I will join, fabricate, and repair steel parts using specialized gas metal arc welding techniques and equipment.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable materials by applying appropriate welding techniques.
- Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine the appropriate welding process.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure structural soundness.
- Follow all safety requirements and protocols.
- Prepare materials and set up for welding devices or robots as needed.
- Complete apprenticeship or formal training in the area of specialty if required.
- Support safety and quality programs by following established rules and processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to operate forklifts and cranes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Proficiency with hand tools (hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, drill, grinder, bander).
- Ability to use measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, micrometer).
- Ability to convert fractions to decimals and metric to English units.
- Provide high-quality work to internal and external customers.
- Capable of setting up and operating processing machines.
- Proficient in spoken, written, and comprehension English.
- Strong attention to detail.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must pass a MIG welder certification.
- Relevant apprenticeship, experience, or vocational training.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 20-50 lbs repeatedly.
- Ability to bend, sit, stand, twist, and stoop for long periods.
- Ability to walk 2-5 miles during a shift.
- Good vision (20/30 with correction).
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Environmental conditions include exposure to temperature changes, loud noises, vibrations, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, high heat, chemicals, fumes, dust, gases, and poor ventilation.
You should be proficient in:
- Welding setups for production.
