Job summary

Surge is seeking an experienced Weld Operator to join our manufacturing team. This role involves setting up and operating welding equipment, preparing metal parts, and producing high-quality welds that meet production and safety standards.

The ideal candidate will have MIG welding experience, blueprint reading skills, and comfort with measuring tools and metal fabrication in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Previous welding experience required.
• 5+ years of welding experience preferred.
• 3+ years of MIG welding experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and welding specifications.
• Proficient with measuring tools and equipment.
• Strong adherence to safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and welding specifications.
• Measure and lay out materials according to production requirements.
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment and methods for each application.
• Set up and position components for welding according to specifications.
• Cut and prepare materials using powered saws and other equipment.
• Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding.
• Align and secure components using clamps and measuring tools.
• Operate MIG, TIG, or resistance welding equipment as required.
• Perform welds in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions.
• Repair machinery, metal components, and structures by welding pieces and filling gaps.
• Inspect welded surfaces and finished components for defects and quality issues.
• Monitor welding equipment and report issues to supervisors.
• Maintain welding equipment and safe work area.
• Follow all safety procedures including PPE and lockout/tagout when required.
• Work efficiently to support production goals.
