Job description

Midtown Location Manager — Learning + Operations

Full-Time | 40 hours/week | Non-Exempt

$60-65K per year
Midtown Manhattan + Williamsburg, Brooklyn

About the Role

Drawing Room is looking for an exceptionally organized, proactive and systems-minded Location Manager to oversee our Midtown space and lead Instructor and Learning operations across both Drawing Room locations.

This is an operations role at its core, with a particular emphasis on complex scheduling and program coordination. We’re looking for someone who loves turning lots of moving pieces into a clear system, anticipates problems before they happen and gets things done accurately and reliably.

What You’ll Do
Run our Midtown location
  • Own the day-to-day readiness, organization and presentation of the space
  • Manage inventory, ordering and restocking
  • Oversee supplies, groceries, flowers, storage, laundry and other operational details
  • Notice and resolve maintenance needs, coordinating vendors and building management when necessary
  • Support Membership Orientations, events, Showcases and other programming
Lead Instructor operations across Midtown + Williamsburg
  • Serve as a day-to-day point person for our Instructor team
  • Schedule instructor meetings and ongoing communication
  • Maintain clear Instructor resources and teaching clearances
Own Learning scheduling + operations
  • Build and maintain Instructor schedules across workshops, Journeys and other programming
  • Manage availability, scheduling constraints and substitutions
  • Track which instructors are cleared to teach which programs and mediums
  • Identify staffing gaps and conflicts before schedules are published
  • Partner with leadership on seasonal staffing and catalog feasibility
  • Coordinate Learning administration and Instructor development projects
  • Maintain clear, accurate systems for scheduling and program operations
Stay connected to the member experience
  • Work one regularly scheduled Open Hours shift per week, taking full responsibility for hosting and the member experience during that shift.
  • Plan administrative responsibilities around this commitment so that Open Hours shifts remain dedicated to active hosting, member engagement and space oversight— not laptop-based administrative work.
  • Use firsthand hosting experience to identify opportunities to improve operations, staff support and the overall member experience.
Who We’re Looking For

You’re an exceptionally strong organizer and systems thinker. A complicated schedule with multiple people, constraints, locations and programs doesn't intimidate you—you enjoy figuring out how all the pieces fit together.

You’re proactive, meticulous and excellent at follow-through. You can manage people and competing priorities while maintaining clear systems and accurate information.

Relevant experience could come from executive assistance, operations, complex scheduling, program or project coordination, production, education administration, office/workplace management, events, studio operations or similar environments.

You do not need to be an artist, teacher or arts administrator. We’re much more interested in whether you’re an excellent operator who can learn the specifics of our Learning program.

Schedule

This is a 40-hour/week, non-exempt role, primarily during weekday daytime hours, with occasional evening/weekend responsibilities and an alternating weekend on-call rotation.

Midtown will be your primary location, but you’ll also spend regular time in Williamsburg and be trained to operate both Drawing Room spaces.

Paid time off: 15 days per calendar year, earned each pay period.

Paid sick leave: 40 hours per calendar year, per NYC and NY State law

Retirement savings: access to the New York Secure Choice Savings Program

Paid holidays: New Year's Day, MLK Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, and Christmas Day, plus any Drawing Room closures announced in advance

Staff membership: access to the spaces, workshops, storage and guest passes

***Please note:

We are grateful for your interest in joining our team! Please note that we typically receive hundreds of applications per role and may not be able to respond to each applicant individually. We will be in touch if there is a good fit. Thank you for your understanding!
