Job summary

bp is seeking a Midstream Optimization Engineer to identify and implement opportunities improving the performance and value of BPX’s midstream infrastructure. You will work with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance and Commercial teams to optimize gas, oil, water and produced fluids systems.

The role requires strong analytical skills, field engagement and the ability to translate insights into practical operational solutions, with travel up to 25% and a hybrid work model in the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with understanding of oil and gas production, gathering and processing operations.
• 5–10 years of experience in oil and gas production, facilities, midstream, water management, or operations engineering.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively across technical and operational teams.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop tools to supervise system performance, pressures, rates and operating conditions.
• Support throughput optimization and asset utilization to reduce deferment.
• Evaluate constraints across gathering, compression, treating, pipelines, and water systems.
• Quantify operational and financial impact of optimization initiatives.
• Assist in developing operational strategies to improve flow and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering and Maintenance teams.
• Analyze recurring issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop dashboards and analytical reports for visibility into system performance.
