Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) offers internship and co-op opportunities to high-performing college students in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum/Natural Gas, or Electrical Engineering. Interns work on real projects, supporting midstream operations and field activities at pipelines, stations, and processing plants.

Participation requires on-site availability, strong academics, and US work authorization.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum/Natural Gas, or Electrical Engineering.
• Concurrent enrollment for duration of the experience.
• Strong academic performance.
• Available to work on site 40 hours per week.
• Valid driver's license for work-related travel.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Available for multiple work terms preferred.
• MIN - $33.54 per hour / MAX - $43.23 per hour

Responsibilities

• Project scope development, including estimating, scheduling, design, contractor engagement and construction oversight.
• DOT-regulated pipeline integrity and maintenance programs.
• Field work at pipelines, compressor stations, pump stations, gas processing plants and related facilities.
• Support midstream initiatives across our Natural Gas & NGL Services operations, including: Automation/controls engineering; Electrical engineering; Process engineering; Process optimization engineering; Project engineering; Operations engineering; Reliability engineering; Pipeline integrity; Corrosion; Measurement services.
