Job summary

Jobtailor in New York seeks an experienced Middleware Architect to lead end-to-end administration of critical middleware platforms, including WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, and Apache. You will design highly available topologies, develop deployment templates, and automate routine tasks to improve stability and efficiency.

The role requires 7+ years in IT, deep knowledge of Linux, Java/J2EE, scripting (Shell, Jython, Perl), and hands-on experience with Ansible, XLR, and Bitbucket.

Qualifications

• 7+ years as an IT professional
• Experience with Apache, J2EE, Java, JBoss, WebSphere AS and Tomcat
• Linux operating system knowledge
• Java/Container Framework knowledge
• Scripting in Shell, Jython and Perl
• Understanding of HTTP/S, TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, load balancers, firewalls, proxies and B2B links
• Experience with Ansible, Ansible Tower, XLR and BitBucket
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Design tools and services within a technical domain per architectural governance and policies
• Create infrastructure tools and integrate them as services
• Develop deployment templates, playbooks, and automation
• Provide middleware expertise and consulting on related technologies
• Translate business requirements into technical definitions, reference models and playbooks
• Evaluate reference models, blueprints and third-party products
• Develop software solutions for manual, repeatable, or inefficient processes
• Administer middleware platforms end-to-end (WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, IBM HTTP Server, WXS)
• Deliver middleware enterprise projects and regulatory initiatives
• Maintain production stability and provide support
• Patch middleware platforms and manage technology risk
• Install, configure, performance-tune middleware servers
• Provide middleware and Java support to application/testing teams
• Create/deploy deployment templates
• Act as a J2EE architect and promote best practices
• Design highly available middleware infrastructure and topologies
• Consult with team, business partners, and vendors
• Execute production changes for integrated and regulatory releases
