Job summary

District 27 seeks a qualified educator to lead technology-integrated instruction in the classroom, collaborating with the curriculum department and instructional technology coordinators. The role involves guiding students in design, coding, and digital literacy, with ongoing assessment and differentiated instruction.

The position requires a teaching degree with Illinois Professional Educator License and endorsements in computer science or instructional technology, plus a BS in a related field.

Qualifications

  • Holds a degree in teaching with Illinois Professional Educator License and endorsements in computer science or computer applications.
  • Has earned at least a BS in Computer Science, Instructional Technology, or equivalent degree.
  • Is knowledgeable of and exhibits characteristics of ISTE Teacher Standards.
  • Has advanced knowledge of Google Suite including Google Sheets/Docs/Presentation/Drawing/Forms/Sites, and can integrate Chrome Apps and Extensions into meaningful projects.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches communication and design principles and coaches students in verbal, written, and graphic presentations.
  • Collaborates with curriculum department and instructional technology coordinators in adopting instructional materials/resources.
  • Monitors updates to sites/programs used in the technology curriculum; collaborates with technology department to vet technical requirements of new innovations.
  • Provides direct instruction and differentiates projects for students with varied skill levels and needs.
  • Supports digital citizenship, AI, and future careers concepts; teaches research and citing; uses Google Suite and coding tools.
  • Assesses student growth and adjusts instruction for individual needs, including students with special needs.

Job description

  • Innovates challenging classroom projects that welcomes student creativity and exploration
  • Collaborates with the curriculum department and instructional technology coordinators in the adoption of instructional support materials/resources, and assists students with effective use of all content aligned technology applications
  • Continuously monitors updates to sites/programs used in the technology curriculum
  • Collaborates with the technology department to vet technical requirements of new innovations
  • Teaches communication and design principles and is able to coach student use of such principles in verbal, written, and graphic presentations
  • Allows students to unravel technological problems using a hands-on, trial-and-error approach and differentiates projects as needed
  • Assigns projects so that students learn to deal with real-world constraints, such as time and materials
  • Provides direct instruction, including but not limited to, the following:
  • Digital citizenship (internet safety, AI, acceptable use of district technology)
  • Future careers
  • Research and citing
  • Design applications
  • Google suite
  • Coding and programming applications
  • Multimedia applications
  • 3D printing
  • Class management skills - ability to manage students working on various items at once and at various skill levels
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student growth and progress and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
Qualifications
  • Holds a degree in teaching with Illinois Professional Educator License and endorsements in computer science or computer applications
  • Has earned at least a BS in Computer Science, Instructional Technology, or equivalent degree
  • Is knowledgeable of and exhibits characteristics of ISTE Teacher Standards
  • Has advanced knowledge of the Google Suite including the ability to teach students how to create Google Sheets/Docs/Presentation/Drawing/Forms/Sites, and has ability to integrate Chrome Apps and Extensions into meaningful projects
  • Has basic understanding of coding languages including using HTML, blocky, tynker, Python
  • Is familiar with various multimedia platforms including the ability to make a short digital movie
  • Is committed to the pursuit of continued professional learning in the Computer Science Technology field by attending seminars, participating in professional organizations, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research
Salary/Benefits

Salary and benefits for this position are covered by the District 27 Negotiated Agreement between the Board of Education and the Teachers Association. Salary will be determined based on experience and level of education. Multiple medical benefit plans are available to employees and are considered exemplary compared to those of other districts.
