Summary of Position

Milton Academy seeks substitute teachers for middle school classes (Grades 6 – 8). This role will be utilized for absences that are planned as well as late-notification situations. Whenever possible, advanced notice will be given to a substitute so that they can prepare accordingly.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• The substitute teacher will be expected to follow the lesson plans outlined by the primary teacher, and work with other members of the Middle School faculty to ensure that there is effective classroom management and supervision of students both for the classes and other activities during the day (i.e. lunch, recess, etc.)

Education/Certification/Licensure

• A bachelor’s degree

Experience

Required

A minimum of three years of experience teaching, tutoring, or working with children in any capacity (e.g., camp counselor, childcare provider, or teacher's aide).

Preferred

Experience working in an independent boarding / day school

Physical Abilities

Required

• Must be able to work at a computer for up to 8 hours each day in conjunction with OSHA requirements.
• Must be able to move around the Milton Academy campus without restriction.
• Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
