Job summary

Caliber Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional for Beta Academy in San Pablo to support students with special needs. The role involves assisting a certificated teacher in implementing IEPs, providing targeted instruction, and helping with behavior supports in various school settings.

The position requires a HS Diploma and 2 years of college (or AA, or CBEST) with legal work authorization in the U.S. TB and Livescan clearances are required; prior SPED experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma + 2 years of college OR AA degree (or higher) OR CBEST passed.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; TB clearance initially upon hire; CA DOJ and FBI Livescan clearance prior to first day of school.
• Three years of recent experience in a special education setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implements training around de-escalations and behavior intervention.
• Implements and follows behavior support plans.
• Communicates with Adaptive PE, social worker, parents, and therapy staff to ensure smooth student services.
• Maintains a daily student activity log and student work samples.
• Attends parent/teacher conferences and IEP meetings.
• Assists in instruction of students with disabilities alongside certificated teachers.
• Supports classrooms, labs, offices, and various school settings as needed.
• Integrates coaching feedback and communicates respectfully with students, families, and colleagues.
