Job summary

Coney Island Preparatory Public Charter School in Brooklyn, NY seeks a Middle School Special Education ELA Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. You will foster a love of reading, writing, and grammar while applying inclusive practices and standards-aligned instruction.

You will collaborate with grade teams, co-teach, differentiate for IEP mandates, and lead interventions to support diverse learners in a dynamic urban setting.

Qualifications

• Experience with Special Education and working with middle school students required.
• Bachelor's degree and NYS teaching certification required; Master's degree in Special Education strongly preferred; we offer $2,000 towards the completion of a Master's degree and NY State certification within two years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Internalize standards-aligned curriculum and daily teach rigorous, culturally relevant lesson plans with differentiation.
• Manage a caseload of students and prepare for IEP meetings with required reports.
• Develop and track standards-aligned IEP goals for students with IEPs.
• Lead and monitor Tier 2 interventions for at-risk students.
• Plan and implement Tier 1 interventions and align with curriculum.
