Coney Island Prep Middle School, Brooklyn, NY, seeks a dedicated Middle School Social Studies teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. You will teach standards-aligned social studies, promote critical thinking, and foster an inclusive classroom that supports all learners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and NYS teaching certification required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
• Passion for subject area and dedication to anti-racism, equity, and inclusion in and outside the classroom.
• Experience with the intended grade level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver standards-aligned middle school social studies instruction with rigorous, culturally relevant lessons and assessments.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.
• Contribute to school-wide systems, structures, and feedback.
• Foster an equitable and accessible classroom environment for all students.
• Analyze instructional and culture data to improve teaching practices and student outcomes.
• Create a positive, structured classroom that supports diverse learners.
• Participate in school events, advisory groups, grade team meetings, and professional development.
• Foster student ownership and high-quality work reflecting students’ ideas and experiences.
• Collaborate with colleagues and school leaders to strengthen teaching practice and school culture.
