LION Charter School in Bronx, NY is seeking a Middle School Special Education Teacher to join a dedicated team focused on student growth through rigorous academics and strong character development. Position is full-time, immediate start, with a salary range of $66,000 to $115,000 per year.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Master’s degree in Special Education, Education, or relevant content area (preferred).
• New York State Certification in Special Education, Teaching Students with Disabilities 5-9 or 7-12.
• Demonstrated success working in an urban school setting.
• Experience adapting lessons for individualized needs of students with disabilities ranging from accommodations to modifications.
• Strong data tracking and analysis skills.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and students.

Responsibilities

• Plan and co-implement individualized curricular and instructional adaptations for students with IEPs with co-teachers.
• Collaborate with co-teachers to co-instruct and provide rigorous, standards-based learning to students with IEPs.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Ensure high academic standards are set for and met by all students
• Plan and co-implement individualized curricular and instructional adaptations (accommodations and modifications) for students with individualized education programs (IEPs) with co-teachers based on curriculum and student needs
• Collaborate with co-teachers to co-instruct and provide rigorous, standards-based learning to students with IEPs and whole classes
• Execute rigorous, small-group, specially designed instruction based on individual needs of students
• Use student performance data derived from curriculum-based measures, normative assessments, and summative assessments to drive instructional decision-making and IEP development
• Design and implement high-quality IEPs that effectively describe student strengths and needs with clear learning goals and performance criteria
• Serve as case manager for at least 2 students receiving special education services participating in ongoing staff orientation and training.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• A Master’s degree in Special Education, Education, or relevant content area (preferred)
• New York State Certification in Special Education, Teaching Students with Disabilities 5-9 or 7-12
• Demonstrated success working in an urban school setting
• Preferred: experience adapting lessons for individualized needs of students with disabilities ranging from accommodations to modifications
• Strong data tracking and analysis skills
• An ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and students
