Job summary

Leaders In Our Neighborhood Charter School in Bronx, NY, is seeking a High School Special Education Teacher to join our urban setting. You will co-instruct with General Education teachers and develop rigorous, standards-based instruction for students with IEPs.

Responsibilities include using data to drive decisions, designing effective IEPs, and serving as case manager for multiple students. NYS Special Education certification is required or in process.

Qualifications

• Design and implement high-quality IEPs with clear goals and criteria.
• Serve as case manager for at least 2 students receiving special education services.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Ensure high academic standards are set for and met by all students
• Collaborate with General Education co-teachers to co-instruct and provide rigorous, standards-based learning to students with individualized education programs (IEPs) and whole classes
• Prepare students for high-stakes tests, including the Regents
• Execute rigorous, small-group instruction based on individual needs of students (as needed)
• Differentiate curriculum and instruction to meet the needs of students with IEPs
• Use student performance data derived from teacher-created and standardized assessments to drive instructional decision-making and IEP development
• Design and implement high-quality IEPs that effectively describe student strengths and needs with clear learning goals and performance criteria
• Serve as case manager for at least 2 students receiving special education services participating in ongoing staff orientation and training.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• A Master’s degree in Special Education, Education, or relevant content area (preferred)
• New York State Certification in Special Education, Teaching Students with Disabilities 5-9 or 7-12
• Demonstrated success working in an urban school setting
• Strong data tracking and analysis skillsAn ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and students
• A commitment to character development and family partnerships

Salary: $66,000 to $115,000 Per Year
