Qualifications

• Massachusetts DESE licensure in Elementary Education (1-6) or Middle School Science (5-8) or eligibility.
• Strong science content knowledge and enthusiasm for inquiry at upper elementary levels.
• Experience with diverse students including ELLs and IEPs.
• Familiarity with NGSS and building cohesive science progressions.
• Proven track record of student growth and impact on learning.
• Interest in project-based, inquiry-based or EL Education models.
• Ability to use assessment data to guide instruction and communicate progress.
• Excellent collaboration and communication with colleagues and families.
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, rigorous daily science instruction for Grades 5 and 6 aligned to NGSS.
• Design units and lessons that foster observation, questioning, investigation and evidence-based reasoning.
• Leverage partnerships to anchor learning in real-world inquiry and place-based experiences.
• Differentiate instruction to support ELLs, students with IEPs, and advanced learners.
• Use varied instructional approaches including hands-on investigations and project-based learning.
• Maintain accurate grade records and participate in data review cycles.
• Collaborate with grade-level colleagues and the special education team to plan curriculum and supports.
• Engage families and the community, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
