Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment that reflect accommodation and regulatory compliance regarding the individual needs of students with IEPs or 504 Plans.
  • Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives and methods according to the MA Curriculum Frameworks.
  • Use appropriate technologies in the teaching/learning process.
  • Use formative and summative assessment to inform instruction and improve student achievement.
  • Present a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school.
  • Create a classroom environment that is respectful, challenging and responsive to diverse student needs including the physical, social and emotional development of all students.
  • Demonstrate sound behavior management practices within the classroom and administer discipline according to school department policies and administrative regulations.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents and community members.
  • Provide direction for and monitor the activities of a Teaching Assistant (Paraprofessional), if one is assigned to the classroom.
  • Other duties, as assigned according to the SEA contract.

Job Description

TYPE OF POSITION: Full-time (1.0); 2026-2027 school year; salary commensurate with experience and education, as set forth in the agreement between the Seekonk School Department and the Seekonk Educators Association

LOCATION: Dr. Kevin M. Hurley Middle School

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All qualified candidates

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

The Middle School Science Teacher provides learning experiences in General Science, guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards and requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
