Job description

Notre Dame Academy is looking for a passionate Middle School Science and STEM Teacher for grades 5-8 to inspire students through engaging, hands-on instruction in Science, Technology, and Engineering. The ideal candidate will foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking while incorporating digital tools and real-world problem-solving. Responsibilities include designing lessons that align with the New York State Science Standards, preparing students for state assessments and the 8th-grade Living Environment Regents Exam, and supporting a strong STEM culture through initiatives like clubs and competitions. The teacher will also serve as a Middle Grade Homeroom Teacher, fostering community, faith, and responsibility within the grade and acting as a key contact for students and families.

Responsibilities include designing lessons that align with the New York State Science Standards, preparing students for state assessments and the 8th-grade Living Environment Regents Exam, and supporting a strong STEM culture through initiatives like clubs and competitions. Key Responsibilities:

•Science Instruction: Design and deliver engaging, rigorous, standards-based science instruction to students in grades 5 through 8. Regents Instruction: Prepare 8th-grade students for success on the Living Environment Regents, including lab requirements and Regents-aligned assessments.
•STEM Instruction: Integrate engaging STEM lessons and projects that align with the school’s curriculum.
•Collaboration: Work with administrators and faculty to create and implement strategies that promote interdisciplinary learning.
•Homeroom responsibilities: Act as the primary point of contact for students’ personal and academic needs and serve as the main communication link between the school and students' families.
•Participate in professional development, school events, and faculty responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements •A commitment to the mission and values of an all-girls Catholic education.
•Master’s degree in Science, Education, Technology, or a related field.
•Certification or experience in teaching Science and STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
•Experience in K-12 education, with a strong focus on science and STEM education in the classroom.
•Proficiency in educational software, learning management systems, and hardware management.
•Ability to make contributions to the School outside one’s academic department, including to clubs and extracurricular programs.
•Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with educators, students, and parents.
