Job summary

FREEDOM MIDDLE is seeking a Middle School Reading Interventionist to support students’ literacy growth. The role will be split between Freedom Middle School and Battlefield Middle School in Fredericksburg, VA, starting immediately, with a 10-month contract and daily responsibilities for developing and implementing reading intervention plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board
• An acceptable rating of prior teaching experience, as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Writes intervention plans for paraeducators.
• Directly service students with deficits in reading
• Proctors state testing as needed
• Participates in child study team meetings
• Creates learning resources for teachers, staff, students
• Assists with content and curriculum development
• Facilitates reading-related professional development for staff
• Analyzes data for intervention plans and uses it to guide instruction
• Collaborates with EL and SPED teams for planning
• Attends PLC meetings to discuss literacy data
• Supports teachers to create reading assessments
• Co-teaches pre-planned lessons with classroom teachers
• Supports staff in understanding literacy standards

Education
