Job summary

KIPP Public Schools Northern California is seeking a PE Teacher for Middle School (26-27) in San Jose, CA. The teacher will design engaging physical education lessons, use data to guide instruction, and foster an inclusive, safe classroom culture grounded in SEL and restorative practices.

The role emphasizes equity, collaboration with leadership and instructional coaching, and ongoing professional growth. A valid PE credential or eligibility is required, with CPR certification for permit

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is required.
• Holders of a valid PE teaching credential, or eligibility for permit, are needed (CPR certification prerequisite for permit).
• Experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement daily and long-term PE lesson plans aligned with KIPP's vision.
• Analyze student data regularly to inform instruction and support growth.
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom grounded in SEL and restorative practices.
• Use culturally responsive management to ensure safety, belonging, and high expectations.
• Communicate proactively with families and leaders to build partnerships.
• Engage in weekly professional development and Communities of Practice.
• Maintain accurate records including attendance, grades, and behavior data.
