Job summary

Othello School District #147 is seeking a Paraprofessional for McFarland Middle School. The role requires assisting teachers with small group and individual instruction, supporting classroom activities, and monitoring student progress.

You will help implement IEP plans, promote safety, and communicate with families as needed. The position runs 6.5 hours per day with 179 days plus holidays, following the PSE CBA schedules.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• AA degree or 48 semester credits or 72 quarter credits or ETS ParaPro Assessment completed.
• Dependable, trustworthy; experience with children and adults; good time management; initiative.
• Physically able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required.
• Visual acuity requirements: clear vision at 20 inches and 20 feet.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in providing small group and individual instruction.
• Assist teachers in all areas of their work.
• Correct daily work assignments of students in all areas.
• Operate equipment such as copy machines, video equipment, typewriters, computers, recorders.
• Support individual students in teacher-monitored classrooms.
• Monitor student objectives and maintain safety.
• Assist with development of self-help, speech, and motor skills.
• Communicate with parents and translate as needed.
• Provide activities and instruction as planned by teachers.
• Interpret teacher instructions and lessons.
• Work as part of the student’s IEP team.
• Utilize language development activities to enrich vocabulary.
• Assist with maintaining discipline.
• Assist students in other classes as necessary.
• Implement behavioral intervention strategies.
• Other duties as assigned by building principal/administrator.
