Position Overview

Sumner Middle School, located in Sullivan, Maine, offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a vibrant educational community. Our campus, near Ellsworth, Bangor, Bar Harbor, and Acadia National Park, serves approximately 480 students from grades 6-12. We focus on empowering students to navigate diverse environments and make impactful community contributions. We seek a dedicated middle school mathematics teacher to join our team for the 2025-2026 school year.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging math lessons aligned with state standards.
• Develop differentiated instruction strategies for diverse learners.
• Use various assessment methods to monitor and support student progress.
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment supporting social and emotional growth.
• Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to promote student success.
• Integrate technology to enhance learning experiences.
• Participate in professional development and implement PBIS and BARR programs to support positive behavior and student relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or related field.
• Valid Maine Department of Education Teacher Certification (#300M, #300S, or K-8 general certification).
• Experience with PBIS and BARR preferred.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for teaching and making a positive impact on students.
