Job summary

The Newport School District seeks an Instructional Paraprofessional to support a middle school mathematics class. You will work closely with a certified math teacher to provide targeted instructional support, facilitate small-group interventions, and maintain an inclusive, organized classroom.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, a solid command of foundational middle school math, experience with diverse learners, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; ParaPro preferred or willing to obtain.
• Strong command of foundational middle school math concepts.
• Experience with middle school youth in classroom, tutoring, or mentoring preferred.
• Outstanding communication, patience, active listening, and passion for supporting learners.
• Familiarity with educational technology tools (e.g., Google Classroom, online math software, interactive boards).

Responsibilities

• Deliver math instruction to whole class, small groups, and one-on-one as planned by the teacher.
• Assist students in understanding core middle school math concepts (ratios, proportions, pre-algebra, basic geometry, rational numbers).
• Maintain a structured, positive, and predictable learning environment with PBIS.
• Prepare class materials, manipulatives, digital tools, and assignment stations.
