Dwight School, an innovative preschool-12 coeducational institution on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, is seeking a dynamic Middle School Librarian (grades 5-8) for a leave replacement from December 2026 through June 2027. The role focuses on managing daily library operations and supporting research skills for students and faculty.

Candidates should hold a MLS or related degree, have experience with students, and be eager to foster a love of reading while collaborating with teachers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master Degree in Library Science or related field.
• Previous experience working with students preferred.
• Prior teaching experience in a library setting.
• Willingness to engage with and learn from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage the daily operation of the Middle School Library for grades 5-8, supporting research skills and library resources.
• Run library programming to promote reading and community engagement.
• Collaborate with faculty to support learning across grades 5-8.
• Assist with evaluation and ordering of new library materials/databases and maintain the library website.
