Job summary

Great Hearts Academies in San Antonio, TX, is seeking a Middle School History Teacher for Great Hearts Northern Oaks Upper School. You will teach World History, Texas History, and US History using the Great Hearts curriculum and foster a joyful, disciplined classroom environment.

Responsibilities include monitoring student progress, communicating with families, and collaborating with colleagues. A Bachelor's degree is required and US work authorization is needed; certification is not required

Middle School History Teacher

Location: Great Hearts Northern Oaks Upper School (17223 Jones Maltsberger Rd. San Antonio, TX 78247)

Reports To: Headmaster

FLSA Status: Salaried-Exempt

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
  • Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
  • Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
  • Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.
Required/Preferred Education

Required/Preferred Education: Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role Certification is not required for general education All majors are welcome US work authorization is required.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.

Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
