Qualifications

• Massachusetts DESE license in School Guidance or School Counseling
• Knowledge of school counseling program structure aligned to MASCA
• Understanding of leadership theories, developmental and learning theories
• Knowledge of mental health care services and intervention
• Understanding barriers to student learning and counseling strategies
• Knowledge of individual, group counseling and classroom instruction for academic achievement
• Understanding legal, professional and ethical issues in MA schools

Responsibilities

• Work to remove barriers to student success
• Increase equity in access to school counseling services and interventions leading to increased enrollment and completion of rigorous coursework
• Plan, organize and deliver the school counseling curriculum to address developmental needs of students
• Data analysis of school counseling variables and outcomes for school improvement planning
• Foster a safe and supportive school climate with positive relationships
• Provide responsive services in consultation with administrators and teachers and through referrals to external organizations
