District Lead Athletics & Co-Curricular Director
COMPENSATION:
AAEA negotiated point system (492 pts x annual pt multiplier) for 2026-2027 that (= 492 x 7.8) = 3837.60
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Executive Director for Secondary Teaching
QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Demonstrated knowledge of the given sport
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Clear background check
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working with student-athletes to ensure fun, safe, competitive, and meaningful sporting experience.
- Ensure the AAPS Code of Conduct as they relate to sports is followed.
- Support all seven AAPS middle school Athletic & Co-Curricular Directors with regards to district policy & procedure; consultant.
DIRECTOR AND ADMINISTRATOR DUTIES:
- Act as AAPS Middle School District Lead Athletics' Representative at City events
- Allocate responsibilities to building Athletic Directors, as needed
- Maintain current handbook for all daily middle school after school procedures & sporting events
- Maintain current evaluation tool & responses for the seven middle school building coaches
- Assist/Support in the recruitment, interviewing, and recommendation for hiring coaches and/or directors, as needed by building Principals & Athletic Directors.
- Manage, organize, and disseminate weekly relevant information to building athletic directors
- Create and manage Co-Curricular Google Calendar with all relevant events, i.e., games/events, meetings, city events, etc.
- Act as liaison to Level Counsel regarding Co-Curricular activities (updates), as needed
- Set agendas & conduct seasonal sports meetings with all Middle School Athletic & Co-Curricular Directors; set mid-season meetings, as needed.
- Meet with high school athletic directors monthly for collaborative review of current issues, accomplishments, barriers/challenges.
- Set agendas for monthly meetings with Exec. Director; additional meetings as needed.
- Any duties assigned by the Executive Director for Secondary Ed.
TRANSPORTATION:
- Serve as Middle School Co-Curricular coordinator & liaison for athletic team transportation
- Input all seasonal transportation tickets
- Provide updates to dispatch for all adjusted transportation needs
- Create and maintain weekly detailed transportation document for city-wide review
- Maintain regular meetings (Zoom) with dispatch to ensure weekly transportation plan
SCHEDULING:
- Work with building Athletic Directors to create, adjust, and maintain all sport seasonal schedules
- Act as liaison and POC for any assignors; work with building Athletic Directors to update assignors with any adjustments made to the master schedule
BUDGET/FINANCE:
- Update Middle School Co-Curricular MASTER budget
- Allocate payment for ALL City sporting-related expenditures
- Approve/Consult on all purchases for building equipment & jersey purchases
- Other duties may be assigned.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Read, write, and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to players, parents, and administration, as needed.
- Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Basic math skills needed for game time situations and game time regulations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Work with parents and children of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
- Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
