Job summary

ServingSchools is seeking an MS Boys Basketball Coach to develop and promote an athletic program distinguished by integrity, citizenship, character, work ethic and perseverance. You will instruct middle school students during practices and games, emphasizing respectful conduct toward opponents and officials.

The role includes working with the Varsity coach for proper preparation and serving as a role model for students, with a flexible schedule and duties including equipment management and event

Qualifications

• Knowledge and expertise in the strategies, methods and techniques for a successful sport offering.
• Previous experience working with middle-school aged athletes preferred.
• Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Instruct players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Supervise athletes during practices and competition.
• Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury.
• Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
• Distribute and collect equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students at the beginning and end of the season.
• Participate in special activities to include parent's night and awards night.
• Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
• Work with the Varsity coach in order to have proper preparation for competition at the middle school level as well as carrying over to the high school level of competition.
• Leadership: Works to enhance and display the philosophy and objectives of the department.

Job description

As a MS Boys Basketball Coach, you will assist in delivering measurable results in developing, enhancing and promoting an athletic program that will be distinguished by the teams' display of integrity, citizenship, character, work ethic, and their ability to overcome adversity. To instruct students in appropriate methods to be respectful of themselves, their opponents, and officials regardless of the outcome of their event. Most have knowledge of the game of basketball and be able to instruct middle school athletes during practices and games.

Must have knowledge and expertise in the strategies, methods and techniques for a successful sport offering.

• Work with the Varsity coach in order to have proper preparation for competition at the middle school level as well as carrying over to the high school level of competition.

Leadership

• Works to enhance and display the philosophy and objectives of the department
• Works with the athletic trainers, MS Athletic Liaison, Director of Athletics to ensure proper medical assistance is available and plans are in order for emergency situations
• Administers the District athletic codes
• Perform such other duties, consistent with this position, as determined by the MS Athletic Liaison, principal/athletic director.
