Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a passionate head coach for our Middle School Boys Basketball program. You will lead practices, develop players, and implement game plans in collaboration with the athletic director.

The role emphasizes mentoring student-athletes and fostering a positive, inclusive team culture while coordinating with staff and parents. Responsibilities include planning practices, teaching fundamentals, organizing games and events, and ensuring safety.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience in basketball or related sport preferred.
• Strong knowledge of basketball rules, techniques, and strategies.
• Ability to communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and staff.
• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain equipment and ensure safety compliance.
• Communicate with players, parents, and school administration about policies and schedules.
• Attend clinics and meetings to stay updated on coaching techniques and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our Middle School Boys Basketball program as a head coach. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the game, a commitment to the development of student-athletes, and the ability to foster a positive and inclusive team environment. This role will lead as the head coach in various aspects of team management, skill development, and game strategy. They will work closely with the athletic director and High School athletic secretary. Practices will start in October.

Responsibilities

• - Planning and conducting practices, ensuring all athletes receive appropriate training and skill development.
• - Provide instruction on fundamental skills, game strategies, and techniques to enhance individual and team performance.
• - Help organize and supervise team activities, including games, practices, and team-building events.
• - Monitor and evaluate player performance, providing constructive feedback and support to help athletes improve.
• - Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive attitude among players, coaching staff, and parents.
• - Collaborate with the athletic director to develop game plans and strategies for competitions.
• - Assist in maintaining team equipment and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• - Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team policies, schedules, and player progress.
• - Attend coaching clinics, workshops, and meetings to stay updated on coaching techniques and regulations.
• -Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• - Previous coaching experience in basketball or a related sport at the high schoo/middle school or youth level is preferred.
• - Strong knowledge of basketball rules, techniques, and strategies.
• - Ability to effectively communicate and connect with athletes, parents, and staff.
• - Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
• - Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• - First Aid and CPR certification required before first practice
• - Availability to attend practices, games, and team events, including evenings and weekends.
• - A passion for teaching and mentoring young athletes in their personal and athletic development.

Yearly evaluation will be given by the Athletic Director. This position is a stipend position and follows the USCA CBA
