STAUNTON RIVER MIDDLE in Bedford County Public Schools is seeking a HeadBaseball Coach for the middle school program in Moneta, VA. The role focuses on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and balancing academics with athletics.

You will lead practices, develop game plans, coordinate with varsity coaches, supervise athletes, ensure safety, and uphold district and VHSL guidelines while serving as a positive role model.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of baseball rules and game strategies.
• Effective coaching, communication, and leadership.
• Ability to establish positive working relationships with student-athletes, parents, and school staff.
• Commitment to the academic and personal growth of student-athletes.
• Must meet district and Virginia coaching certification requirements, including CPR/First Aid/AED and concussion training.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates players' abilities and assigns team positions to maximize success; plans practices for technical, tactical, physical, and mental growth.
• Leads the middle school baseball program and collaborates with varsity and JV coaches for consistency and alignment.
• Teaches baseball techniques, rules, and strategies; tailors instruction to progress and team needs.
• Develops game plans based on team strengths; promotes sportsmanship during competition.
• Provides supervision during practices and games; follows district and VHSL guidelines for injuries.
• Maintains open communication with players, parents, and staff; holds pre- and post-season meetings.
• Oversees equipment care and inventory; ensures safe and responsible use of facilities.
• Models integrity and respect; adheres to policies and fosters inclusivity.
• Attends coaches' meetings and completes required documentation for eligibility and scheduling.
