• Provides supervision during practices and games; follows district and VHSL guidelines for injuries.
• Maintains open communication with players, parents, and staff; holds pre- and post-season meetings.
• Oversees equipment care and inventory; ensures safe and responsible use of facilities.
• Models integrity and respect; adheres to policies and fosters inclusivity.
• Attends coaches' meetings and completes required documentation for eligibility and scheduling.

Job Description

The HeadBaseball Coach is responsible for leading, organizing, and coaching the middle school baseball program. The position emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic balance, preparing student-athletes for interscholastic competition and future participation at the high school level. The coach will serve as a positive role model and mentor while fostering a love for the game of baseball.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Player Development: Evaluates players' abilities and assigns team positions to maximize individual and team success. Plans and conducts effective practices focused on technical, tactical, physical, and mental growth.
• Program Leadership: Leads the middle school baseball program and collaborates with varsity and junior varsity coaches to ensure consistency and alignment of philosophy, terminology, and player development throughout the program.
• Coaching and Instruction: Teaches and demonstrates proper baseball techniques, rules, and strategies to individuals and groups. Adjusts instruction based on player progress and team needs.
• Game Management: Develops and implements game strategies based on team strengths and opponent analysis. Promotes positive sportsmanship and teamwork during competition.
• Supervision and Safety: Provides proper supervision of athletes during practices, games, and team events. Follows district and VHSL (Virginia High School League) guidelines and established procedures in the event of an injury.
• Communication: Maintains open communication with players, parents/guardians, and school staff regarding expectations, schedules, and player development. Holds pre- and post-season meetings as appropriate.
• Equipment and Facilities: Oversees the care, maintenance, and inventory of uniforms, equipment, and field spaces. Ensures all resources are used safely and responsibly.
• Professional Conduct: Models integrity, fairness, and respect toward players, officials, opponents, and spectators. Adheres to all school, district, and state athletic policies and promotes a culture of inclusivity and sportsmanship.
• Administrative Responsibilities: Attends all required coaches' meetings and completes necessary documentation related to eligibility, schedules, and program management.
