Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a dedicated athletics coach to support the Varsity, JV, and JVC teams under the Head Coach. The role involves planning workouts, teaching sport skills, and guiding student growth in a diverse school setting.

Requires at least one year of coaching experience, a high school diploma or GED, and valid certifications. The position may accompany teaching duties and involves travel between sites within the district.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or GED.
• Minimum of one year coaching experience.
• Completion of WIAA coaching requirements.
• Valid Washington Driver's License.
• Valid First Aid and CPR Certification; SPS Adult Sexual Misconduct Class.
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint and Background Clearance

Responsibilities

• Prepares student-athletes mentally and physically for competition.
• Enhances student athlete's growth in a culturally diverse environment.
• Plans and supervises workouts and games for the team.
• Instructs participants in sport-specific skills.
• Keeps abreast of current coaching techniques and rules.
• Attends varsity contests and supports Head Coach in management.
• Manages district-owned equipment, records, and athletic awards.
• Attends required meetings and clinics for Athletic Department.
• Performs related duties to ensure efficient operation of the work unit.
