Job Description: Art Teacher

Under the direction of the principal and the fine arts program coordinator, the art teacher will:

1. Teach middle school art classes as scheduled.
2. Coordinate art with other curricula.
3. Be involved with all scheduled exhibits.

Responsibilities:

• Teach a variety of art classes at the middle school level.
• Collaborate with the Art department to develop curriculum.
• Share responsibilities within the Art department.

Qualifications:

• Massachusetts certification in art.
• Successful teaching experience in art.
• Thorough knowledge of elements of art and techniques, including ceramics, with emphasis on both two-dimensional and three-dimensional products.
• Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment or willingness to acquire such skills.
• Experience in integrating art into other curricula.
• Strong communication skills with teachers, parents, and administrators.
• Sensitivity and experience in mainstreaming students with learning disabilities.
