Job summary

LyondellBasell is a leader in the global chemical industry, seeking a Head of Middle Office in Houston to lead daily close, exposure, risk, P&L, and inventory reporting for an asset-backed trading organization. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field; advanced degree or professional certification preferred.
• Significant experience in a commodity trading middle office, risk control, product control, or related control function within asset-backed trading or industrial manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of physical commodity life cycle processes, valuation, P&L attribution, exposure reporting, inventory accounting, and risk metrics.
• Hands-on CTRM implementation experience including requirements definition, design, testing, data migration, and post-go-live stabilization.
• Experience with chemicals, petrochemicals, refined products, NGLs, natural gas, crude oil, or related asset-backed markets.
• Proficiency with Power BI, SQL, Python; AI-enabled analytics capability preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Middle Office function for trade capture validation, daily exposure, risk, performance, and working capital reporting across asset-backed trading.
• Own valuation governance, CTRM standards, and independent curve validation to ensure fair and controlled valuation.
• Collaborate with Commercial Trading and Scheduling to evaluate transactions and support asset-network optimization.
• Maintain and enhance control frameworks across the trade lifecycle, including inventory and hedge governance.
• Drive CTRM implementation agenda and user testing, aligning with business needs and timelines.
• Transition the organization from weekly to daily reporting with stronger controls and scalability.
• Develop a long-term roadmap for AI-enabled analytics and automation to improve insight and efficiency.
• Lead investigations reconciling P&L variances and inventory movements, addressing root causes.
