Job Summary
Willapa Valley Middle & High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team as a full-time English/History Teacher. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for students in grades 6-12. This role requires a strong ability to inspire students, develop critical thinking skills, and promote a love for literature and history. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues to create an interdisciplinary approach to education and support the overall mission of our school.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards for English and History curriculum.
  2. Assess student progress through a variety of evaluation methods, including assignments, projects, and standardized tests.
  3. Foster a classroom environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and open discussion.
  4. Differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including those with special needs and English language learners.
  5. Collaborate with fellow teachers to integrate cross-curricular projects and activities.
  6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
  7. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  8. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational best practices.
  9. Supervise and support students during extracurricular activities and events as needed.
  10. Contribute to a positive school culture by participating in faculty meetings, committees, and school functions.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, History, or a related field.
  2. Valid teaching certification or license for middle and high school English and History.
  3. Proven experience teaching English and History at the middle or high school level preferred.
  4. Strong knowledge of current educational practices, curriculum development, and assessment strategies.
  5. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  7. Proficiency in integrating technology into the classroom to enhance learning.
  8. Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration with colleagues.
