Associate Principal

POSITION PURPOSE

Nute Middle High School is seeking a mission-driven, student-centered Associate Principal to support the continued growth and improvement of the school community. As a key member of the leadership team, the Associate Principal will work in close partnership with the principal to strengthen instructional systems, support Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), promote positive student behavior, and foster a safe and inclusive school culture grounded in high expectations and restorative practices.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader with strong experience in student support systems, behavior management, and relationship-building who is committed to ensuring that all students are supported academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
School Improvement & Instructional Leadership
  • Partner with the Principal to support efforts to improve student achievement across all grade levels and content areas
  • Support implementation of school improvement initiatives aligned with district and state goals
  • Help foster a culture of high expectations, continuous improvement, and student-centered learning
  • Use student data to support instructional decision-making and intervention planning
  • Participate in classroom observations, staff feedback, and professional learning activities
  • Support the implementation of evidence-based instructional and intervention practices
MTSS, Student Support & School Culture
  • Support and strengthen school-wide Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
  • Lead school-wide behavior systems with an emphasis on consistency, accountability, restorative practices, and relationship-building
  • Coordinate interventions and support in collaboration with counselors, case managers, teachers, and support staff
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all students
  • Support efforts to improve student attendance, engagement, and belonging
  • Contribute to a school culture where all students are known, supported, and challenged
  • Manage student discipline matters in alignment with district policies and restorative approaches
  • Facilitate restorative conversations, problem-solving processes, and reentry planning when appropriate
  • Communicate proactively with families regarding student behavior, attendance, and support plans
  • Support staff in implementing consistent behavioral expectations and restorative strategies
  • Assist in crisis response, conflict resolution, and student safety planning
Operational Leadership & School Support
  • Serve as Acting Principal when necessary
  • Support daily school operations, including supervision, scheduling, safety procedures, and school events
  • Assist with building logistics, communications, and operational systems
  • Ensure compliance with district policies, state laws, and school procedures
Family & Community Engagement
  • Serve as a liaison between families, the school, and community organizations
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff, and families to support student success
  • Support family engagement efforts and school-community partnerships
  • Represent the school at district and community events as needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid New Hampshire Associate Principal or Principal Certification
  • Master's degree in educational leadership
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience, preferably at the middle or high school level
  • Strong background in student behavior management and restorative practices
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, support systems improvement, and work collaboratively with staff and families
  • Commitment to educational equity and culturally responsive practices
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with MTSS frameworks and intervention systems
  • Background in trauma-informed practices and student support services
  • Experience supporting school improvement initiatives
  • Familiarity with competency-based education and data-informed instructional practices
  • Strong skills in communication, conflict resolution, and team facilitation
