Job summary

North Thurston Public Schools is seeking a Cook Helper at Evergreen Forest Elementary in Olympia, WA. The role involves food preparation, serving and maintaining a sanitary cafeteria environment for the school year.

Typical schedule is 2.75 hours/day, 5 days/week, 192 days/year with opportunities to support meal programs and HACCP compliance. Will work under supervision of cooks or kitchen managers and assist with meal service.

Qualifications

• Washington State Food Handler’s Permit required.
• Ability to operate point of service (POS) system.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and the community.
• Experience working with diverse populations is valued.

Responsibilities

• Serve meal components to customers on service line.
• Prepare meals by following recipes and assembling ingredients.
• Monitor HACCP procedures and reheat items as needed.
• Assist with securing equipment and supplies; maintain cleanliness.
• Assist with production records and ordering supplies.
