Job summary

St. Francis Area Schools is seeking a Day Cleaner/Custodian for the middle school (6-8). The role includes daytime custodial support, cleaning classrooms, restrooms, and common areas, with duties such as floor care, trash removal, disinfection, and material setup for events.

A boiler license is needed for Custodian classification and duties may include minor maintenance. The position requires the ability to stand/walk long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and communicate professionally with

Qualifications

• Requires ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Lift up to 50 pounds; follow written and verbal instructions.
• Work independently and communicate professionally with students, staff, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Clean classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, entrances, halls and other spaces.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, strip, finish and maintain floors as assigned.
• Empty trash and recycling; replace liners.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, fixtures, drinking fountains, and high-touch surfaces.
• Check and replenish supplies during the day.
• Assist with cafeteria setup, cleanup, and cleaning between meals.
• Respond promptly to spills and safety needs during the school day.
• Set up and take down tables, chairs and equipment for activities and events.
• Perform light repairs within training; report safety concerns and maintenance needs.
• Assist with building security by checking doors and windows.
