Overview

• The practice group focuses on restrictive covenants, non-compete agreements, trade secrets, and employee mobility matters on a national and international basis.
• The role involves handling matters concerning covenants not to compete, non-solicitation and non-disclosure agreements, unfair competition, employee raiding and team moves, trade secrets, duty of loyalty, the U.S. Defend Trade Secrets Act (DTSA), the U.S. Computer Fraud & Abuse Act (CFAA), and various state trade secrets and unfair competition statutes.
• Duties include litigation enforcing or defending non-competes, non-solicitation, or trade secret misuse, handling multi-state and cross-border matters, enterprise-wide contract drafting projects, providing strategic advice for onboarding key recruits, and frequent national and international legal research.
• The team represents national and local companies across industries such as financial services, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, apparel, insurance and benefits, staffing and PEO services, healthcare, and security and automation.
• Prior experience in restrictive covenants and trade secrets is a plus but not required; helpful experience includes handling motions for temporary restraining orders and other injunctive relief, expedited and written discovery, depositions, computer forensics, e-discovery, motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and other complex motions.
• The position requires a strong litigation background, excellent academic credentials, strong writing and analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple matters. A portable book of business is not required.
• Admission to the Maine Bar is required, or candidates must be willing to apply and obtain it.
